Time-optimize your email workflow
I linked to an article
a few weeks back on my habits as an emailer which turned out to be me being a combiner-filer. So what does my email workflow look like? Everyone has their own take on how to get to the bottom of their inbox. CBS News
has a quick list of steps that do work. However, mine differs a little.
Due to the large amount of email I receive, the first thing I do is run a quick scan of the sender and the subject to determine whom I need to reply to right away. Other non-pressing emails will remain in my inbox until I can get to them later on. Essentially, my routine looks something like this:
- Scan email for important messages.
- Delete unimportant mail.
- Reply to the remaining email.
- Label and archive.
Of course, your mileage may vary depending on the amount of free time and number of emails received. How do you manage your email?
