If you haven't yet heard, the folks over at 37signals just dropped some big news
on us in the CRM space. First, 37signals is shifting the company's entire focus to Basecamp
, our favorite project management software platform, from here on out. This means that the future of Highrise, one of the leading small business CRMs, is up in the air.
Additionally, in keeping with their new single-product focus, 37signals is changing its name to Basecamp.
Moving forward, we will be a one product company. That product will be Basecamp.
The biggest piece of this announcement is the company's sole focus on Basecamp and the subsequent uncertainty of Highrise's future, as well as the other products in their suite. Basecamp says that one of three things could happen: Highrise could be spun off as another company; it could be sold to someone else, either alone or along with the other products; or, if the right buyer can't be found, kept with the company and run internally. Ss someone in a small business, uncertainty like that is scary, especially when the product you use daily has taken a back seat.In a world with a plethora of great CRM solutions, you have a ton of options from which to choose, including Contactually and other tools like Insightly, Zoho, Pipedrive, and Salesforce.
